Money is a Non-Specific Amplifier
Every class I teach to herbalists about business I am determined to talk about money and it’s energy. “Money does not hold energy. Money is not sacred”, I say over and over again. I am sad when I of see people put holy water on money, put money on their altar and do spells with money. Sadly that’s not how it works - if it did all of the spiritual folks would be the wealthiest of all.
If you ask anyone who is good with money (aka, people who know how to make it and invest it) they will say the same thing over and over again - “learn about it”. They read the books, they hire the consultants, they ‘play’ with it.
Yes, and some may idolize it for power - and that’s where it gets messy.
I was interviewing Kayse Gehret, a colleague, friend, business advisor and amazing wellness entrepreneur on Monday about her journey with many wellness businesses under her belt. She said one of the best things about money that I have ever heard:
“I work in psychedelics. And money works just like a psychedelic - it’s a non-specific amplifier. It amplifies whoever the person IS.”
This is the absolute truth.
We see people doing wonderful things that make money all day long - conservation efforts, land back initiatives, feeding the poor, supporting children, helping war-torn families, and on and on. Money is the not the root of all evil - it is the way we use it that gives it its power.
As healers, entrepreneurs (and maybe mothers/father/aunts/uncles) we are wired to try to make the world a better place through our hard-earned talents. The questions I have are; how is money amplifying your values? How are you using it/saving it/investing it? What kind of value are you putting on it to create the life you want to live and bettering those around you?
This year, the year of the Fire Horse, everyone is talking about action, movement, creation, and alchemical transformation. When running a small business, we need action to build and create, get it out in the world. But before you jump on the Fire Horse and gallup towards your goals, remember, that unless you are clear about your spiritual and deep-seated earth and community values, you may be amplifying some feelings of doubt, insecurity, scarcity, and greed.
So, my dears, pay attention, be clear, and keep going toward the thing that brings peace, everlasting purpose, contentment, and love.
Journaling prompts:
If you were to make one million dollars this year, how would you spend it?
How do you view wealthy people?
Talk to yourself as a wealthy, successful business owner 5 years from now - what kind of love can you give that future-self, and what do you want them to remember?
What is holding you back (if anything) from financial education?
